Removing Clients from Groups

You can remove clients from a group when they are no longer part of the group. However, there are important restrictions to ensure financial integrity.

Prerequisites

  • The group must exist and be activated
  • The client must be a current member of the group
  • The client must not have active group loans
  • The client must not have group savings accounts with balances

Steps

  • Log in to Symba Microbanking with a user account authorized to manage groups.
  • Navigate to the Groups section.
  • Search for and select the group from which you want to remove a client.
  • Click the More button in the group details page.
  • Select Manage Members from the dropdown menu.
  • Find the client in the Client Members list on the right side of the screen.
  • Click the trash button next to the client's name.
  • Confirm the removal in the dialog that appears.

The client will be removed from the group immediately.

Restrictions

Clients cannot be removed from a group if they have:

  • Active group loans: The client must first fully repay or close all group loans before they can be removed.
  • Group savings accounts: The client must close or transfer any group savings accounts before they can be removed.

If you attempt to remove a client with active group accounts, you will receive an error message explaining which accounts are preventing the removal. You must first close or transfer those accounts before removing the client from the group.

Why These Restrictions Exist

These restrictions protect the financial integrity of the group:

  • Group loans create shared liability among group members, so clients cannot be removed while they have outstanding obligations
  • Group savings accounts hold funds that belong to the group collectively, so proper account closure procedures must be followed
