Savings Account Alias Codes

Savings Account Alias Codes

Savings account alias codes are short generated references that can be assigned to savings accounts in addition to the system account number. They help staff identify savings accounts in operational workflows where a compact reference is easier to use.

The system generates each savings alias code as a unique six-digit number. Staff choose whether to generate, regenerate, or remove the alias code, but they do not type the code value themselves.

Prerequisites

  • Log in to Symba Microbanking with a user account that is authorized to manage savings account aliases
  • The savings account must already exist

Generating a savings alias code

  • Open the savings account
  • Open the account actions menu
  • Select "Generate Alias Code"
  • Confirm the action

The generated alias code is saved to the savings account and displayed with the account details.

Changing or removing a savings alias code

After a savings account has an alias code, the account actions menu shows:

  • "Regenerate Alias Code" - replace the current alias code with a new generated code
  • "Remove Alias Code" - remove the alias code from the savings account

The system checks uniqueness when it generates the code. If a generated code is already used by another savings account, it tries another code automatically.
