Releasing holds

Release a manual hold to make previously reserved funds available for withdrawal again.

Note: This is for manually created holds. Liens (automatic holds for loan guarantees) are released automatically as the loan is repaid, or when the guarantor is removed.

Prerequisites

Log in to Symba Microbanking with a user account that has permission to release holds on savings accounts.

The savings account must have an active hold.

Steps

  • Open the savings account with the hold you want to release
  • Click the menu icon in the account header
  • Select "More", then click "View Holds" or "Release Hold"
  • If viewing holds first, click the delete icon next to the hold you want to release
  • Confirm the release action

The hold amount is immediately released and becomes available for withdrawal. The available balance increases by the released amount.

If multiple holds exist on the account, each must be released separately.

Important notes

  • Manual holds must be released manually through the steps above
  • Liens (automatic holds for loan guarantees) are released automatically as the loan is repaid
  • Once released, a hold cannot be reinstated - you must create a new hold if funds need to be reserved again
  • Releasing a hold does not affect the account balance, only the available balance
